A refusal letter rarely explains itself in plain language. After enough files, though, the causes cluster into a short list.
- Insufficient or unexplained funds — large deposits just before applying read as arranged.
- Weak ties to India — no job letter, no property, no dependants named.
- Incomplete itinerary — dates that do not match the bookings.
- Wrong mission for a Schengen application.
- Photograph that does not meet spec.
- Passport validity under six months.
- Previous overstay or refusal not declared.
- Cover letter contradicting the application form.
- Insurance that does not cover the full stay.
What to do after a refusal Do not immediately reapply with the same file. Read the refusal ground, fix the specific gap, and let some time pass where the ground was financial. A second identical application is usually refused faster than the first.
